WolfCryer (Matt Baumann) is a former classical and jazz saxophonist from St. Louis Missouri. A long time listener and follower of Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne, and Tom Waits, Matt attended the school of music at BGSU in Bowling Green Ohio and studied classical music, and jazz. After five albums as an ambient and avant-garde solo saxophonist, and following his growing discontentment with the local jazz and R&B scene, Matt all but quit the saxophone and took up the four-string plectrum banjo in the wake of recurring dreams of becoming a singer/songwriter. Now WolfCryer is a one-man show on banjo, vocals, and harmonica. All the while he writes his own very personal songs composed in frenetic energy, soulful lows, and all born of powerful lyrics.
