Venerable indie label Bar/None will be giving Ezra Furman's The Year of No Returning its first release on CD.This cycle of ten songs designated for the months of the year (Jan and Feb. are missing) aim for the self-professed "lofty goal of real protest."  Ezra Furman is a young singer-song writer with a punky spirit who is not afraid to cram a lot of words in among the hooks and jabs. While taking one for Team Earth he is determined to remain standing in the ring at the center microphone bloody but unbowed. I'm hoping you'll consider advancing his show with a feature, album review or preview. Let me know if you'd like to hear music. I'm including a link to a video for "The Queen of Hearts" brought to you by Consequence of Sound and North Avenue Studios:

Furman had led the blistering, Boston-based rock and roll band Ezra Furman & the Harpoons. They released four albums: Banging Down the Doors (2007), Inside the Human Body (2008), Moon Face (2009) and Mysterious Power (2011). They toured and gained considerable popularity overseas.

He returned to his native Chicago, holed up in an attic and wrote and recorded his solo debut, The Year of No Returning.  These days he usually plays with his band, The Boy-Friends.  His second solo outing Day of the Dog, will be released in September 2013 on Bar/None Records
