Kris Brown with Whetherman

Kris Brown's first CD, Mango Lassi, went "plywood" (ran out of the first batch) before he even began performing his own music live. He had been giving them away or selling them for $5 (years before that was expected) to friends and fans at his gigs (playing jazz, funk, and reggae) all over Cincinnati. When he did his first show doing his own music in 2000 at Stanley's Pub, it was to a packed house full of folks who already knew all the words. He moved to Austin in 2001 and toured with Shelley King, Cyril Neville, and Charlie Robison before deciding to again focus on performing his own music. As a session player, he has played nearly every kind of music on most instruments with strings on over 50 records as well as producing tracks for reggae legend General Smiley and folk darling Ruthie Foster. his last band, Mr Brown and Dubkids, packed the Southgate House every time it made the drive north, and now several folks from that crew are the core of the Cliftones.
This is a homecoming show and a CD release. Anybody who comes to the show can go home with the music free. Looking for my Zero was recorded live with no overdubs, auto tuning, or click tracks, with his new trio, the kB3.
