Word of Mouth Cincinnati (WoMC)

Word of Mouth Cincinnati (WoMC), a reading consisting of both an open mic and a feature performance, continues its inaugural year on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 7:00 pm in MOTR Pub’s Sword Room. This month’s feature performer is Sam McCormick.

Sam McCormick is a recent graduate of the Art Academy of Cincinnati--her native land--and is the editor-in-chief for Trigger, a poetry journal set to the tune of firing off loudly. Her poetry is always attempting and it often salutes to our humanity, to paying attention, and to the overwhelming fact that anything exists at all.

Sam’s work has appeared in H_NGM_N and Forklift, Ohio and is forthcoming in The Baltimore Review and The Equalizer.
Word of Mouth Cincinnati (WoMC) runs the third Tuesday of each month and is co-hosted by fellow writers Jim Palmarini and Mark Flanigan. It was founded in memory of the late Aralee Strange who, after many years living, writing and producing work in the Cincinnati area, moved to Athens, Georgia where she co-founded Athens Word of Mouth, a popular reading series there.

According to its website WoMC is “an intentional arc of both past and future utterance, inspired by our most revered voice, with a nod to her Athens, GA compatriots. Word ofMouth asks poets to Show Up, Mouth Off and Pay Attention.”
